What We Do
The Industrial Fasteners Institute, known as the IFI, is a trade association representing manufacturers of mechanical fasteners and formed parts produced in North America. Founded in 1931 as the American Institute of Bolt, Nut, and Rivet Manufacturers, the name was changed to the Industrial Fasteners Institute in 1949. The IFI is an engineering-oriented organization addressing the operational concerns of its members. It is involved in the setting of industry manufacturing standards with SAE, ASTM, ISO, and others, as well as developing and publishing some of its own standards in response to member issues.
